Magical Midnight Garden |
Click on picture to return to previous page. Scroll down for quilt description. Magical Midnight Garden This quilt won Second Place in the 2002 Merri Stitches Annual Mini Quilt Contest. In addition it was selected for display at the 2002 Fiber Arts Conference and the 2002 “A Quilter’s Gathering” sponsored by the East Coast Quilters Alliance. This quilt consists of 16 crazy pieced blocks. The center of each block has a variety of machine embroidered roses in multiple shades of blue. The vines in the border were made from green hand-dyed silk ribbons and fibers which were crocheted in a chain stitch and sewn into place by machine. At the ends of each vine there are a variety of machine embroidered leaves. Framing the inside border and each crazy pieced square is a royal midnight blue and copper tinsel yarn that was crocheted in a chain stitch and sewn in place by machine. The binding consists of 3 shades of midnight blue tulle that is rotary cut into uneven points then gathered and attached to the edge of the quilt by machine. |
