Verdigris  Hearts

This quilt was selected for display at the 2002 Fiber Arts Conference.  Hearts were made by cutting out shapes from a beautiful fabric print.  The cut outs were arranged to form heart shapes and then machine appliquéd to the background fabric.  One inch wide strips of fabric were woven together to make the border.  Decorative machine stitches were then added to the woven strips for texture.  The inside border was embellished with three shades of sheer iridescent ribbons that were braided and zigzag stitched into place using a gold thread to simulate Venetian glass beads couched in gold wire.  A beaded fringe was sewn to the outside edge of the border.
